“Witchy family haunted by Mothman in Appalachian woods.”
BookTuber Opinions
I finally picked up Bittersweet in the Hollow after it sat on my shelf for two years, and I finished it in one day—perfect for creepy summer vibes. The atmosphere in this Appalachian town with its witchy family, diner food descriptions, and haunting woods with Mothman legends was incredible, making me salivate and feel the eerie tension. The plot wasn't as strong as the mood, and I didn't fully connect with the emotions leading to the ending, but the small-town secrets and out-of-the-corner-of-your-eye scares kept me hooked. It's not relaxing due to the scariness, but if you want something atmospheric to devour quickly, I highly recommend it. The sequel's autumn vibes are tempting me to save it for later, which says a lot about how much I enjoyed the seasonal setup.
